Filipçe: After more than a week in the US, Mickoski has brought no concrete result for Macedonia

Hristijan Mickoski and the government delegation have spent more than a week in the United States, but so far the public has seen no concrete meeting, agreement or result for Macedonia, SDSM leader Venko Filipçe said at a press conference today.

Filipçe said this was one of the government delegations with the longest stay and the fewest results. According to him, other delegations are already arriving in New York, while nothing concrete has been announced in a week.

The SDSM leader said Mickoski was trying to justify his stay in the US by claiming that he was defending national interests and Macedonian identity, although there was no concrete result behind these statements.

“Mickoski claims that he has defended the national interests and identity. Meanwhile, President Siljanovska-Davkova herself has stated that the Prespa Agreement confirms Macedonian identity. So what is Mickoski defending in America?” Filipçe asked.

He recalled that for years Mickoski had convinced the public that he would restore the name, repeal the Prespa Agreement and renegotiate the agreement with Bulgaria, but none of these things had been achieved.

“The truth is simple: he is lying again, just as he has lied for years. He has done nothing, and he is taking no action now either. This government is not only failing to defend national interests, but is also putting them at risk,” the SDSM leader declared.

Filipçe stressed that the country’s membership in the European Union was one of the most important national interests. He added that Mickoski’s isolationist policy was distancing Macedonia from European funds and the development opportunities offered by Europe.
