Ferit Hoxha Discusses Security, Defense and Albania-US Cooperation in NATO with Allison Hooker

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker during the Bled Strategic Forum.

In a post on the social media platform X, Hoxha said the talks once again affirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between Albania and the United States, as well as both sides’ willingness to expand bilateral cooperation.

The main topics of discussion included defense, security and coordination within NATO, particularly following the Ankara Summit and ahead of the Alliance’s next summit in Albania. The meeting also addressed the security situation and recent developments in the Western Balkans.

Minister Hoxha noted that Albania and the United States share a lasting partnership underpinned by common democratic values, transatlantic solidarity and a commitment to security.

In his post on X, Ferit Hoxha said it was a pleasure to meet Allison Hooker on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum.

He emphasized that, following talks held in Washington last July, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of the Albania-US strategic relationship and their commitment to deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During the talks, they exchanged views on defense and security cooperation, as well as coordination between the two countries within NATO. Attention was also given to the security environment and developments in the Western Balkans, underscoring the need for sustained engagement in support of regional stability and security.

According to Hoxha, relations between the two countries are based on a well-established, long-term partnership built on democracy, transatlantic solidarity and a shared responsibility for security.

The minister expressed his expectation that close dialogue and cooperation would continue, with the aim of achieving tangible results that advance shared interests and benefit both countries.
