Farmer alerted police to masked men near US base: The phone call that thwarted the suspected plan

Five men arrested near a US military base in Britain are still being questioned by British police on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack.

Donald Trump said that US and British authorities had worked together to stop a possible plot. According to reports in the British media, the intervention came after a farmer called police after seeing several hooded and masked men near the area.

“Just 10 minutes after I called 999, the village was filled with armed police. I think my phone call disrupted their plans,” the farmer said in an interview with the BBC.

British authorities announced the previous day that they had prevented a possible explosives attack on RAF Fairford, a military air base used by the US Air Force (USAF). Five people have been arrested by counterterrorism investigators on suspicion of possessing explosives and preparing an attack. One of the possibilities being examined is that the attack may have been ordered or organized by the Tehran regime.

RAF Fairford is of particular importance to the United States: since March, the base has served as a launch point for US B-1 and B-52 strategic bombers on military missions against Iranian positions. The alarm was raised shortly after midnight on Sunday, after three suspicious vans were spotted near the Whelford area.

Police described the incident as “serious,” closed off the area and moved residents of the nearby village to a local recreational center. Meanwhile, bomb disposal teams began inspecting the vehicles.
