Family wiped out in Gaza in renewed bombardments despite ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas being in force since October 2025, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 11 people in the Gaza Strip, including an entire family nearly wiped out.

The Civil Defense Agency in Gaza reported that a bombardment destroyed an apartment in the northwestern area of Gaza City, killing five members of the same family. Among the victims were a man, his wife, and three of their children. The only one to survive the tragedy was another child, who was outside the home at the time of the strike.

Shifa Hospital confirmed that five bodies had arrived at its facilities. Meanwhile, from the Israeli military, a spokesperson claimed that the strike targeted a ‘Hamas terrorist,’ adding that the effectiveness of the operation has not yet been fully determined.

Footage from the scene shows the considerable extent of the damage, with a large part of the building’s facade destroyed, as emergency teams and citizens continue efforts to find survivors under the piles of concrete.

Another strike was reported in the Zaitoun neighborhood, where Israeli forces hit a gathering of civilians, killing three people. Shifa Hospital again confirmed the number of casualties.

In the afternoon hours, the Civil Defense announced that a woman had lost her life after Israeli artillery fire targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons from the conflict. The incident also left several wounded, while three people remain missing under the rubble.

Health officials said that two more victims were recorded in separate attacks throughout the day in the Palestinian territory, further increasing the human toll.

So far, the Israeli armed forces have made no statement regarding these latest incidents. Both sides, Israel and Hamas, continue to clash with daily accusations of breaking the ceasefire agreement.

According to figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health, from October 10, 2025, when the ceasefire took effect, until now, at least 1,144 Palestinians have been killed. On the other side, Israeli sources speak of six killed during this period, including five soldiers and a civilian contractor engaged by the Ministry of Defense.

Despite the existence of a formal agreement to cease hostilities, the reality in the Gaza Strip shows a fragile climate, where sporadic strikes and their fatal consequences remain a daily occurrence for both sides.
