Ahmad Al-Saqar, a Jordanian asylum seeker suspected of leaving Ireland after his partner was found dead in her home, reportedly first arrived in the United Kingdom using an electronic travel authorization that cost just £10.

British media report that the 28-year-old entered Britain as a tourist using the electronic document. He then traveled to Northern Ireland, crossed into the Republic of Ireland and applied for asylum there.
The case concerns the death of Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old American woman who was found dead in her home in Killarney, County Kerry, on July 7. Her body was discovered by her 13-year-old daughter after she returned home following a night spent away.
Autopsy results showed that Carney had died as a result of strangulation. According to media reports, she had also been struck with the lid of the toilet tank.
Investigators in Ireland believe that Al-Saqar may have left the home during the early hours of July 7. He is suspected of having first flown to Istanbul and then continued on to Jordan.
According to The Sun, Jordanian authorities have located and arrested the 28-year-old. However, it remains unclear how he could be returned to Ireland, as Jordan and Ireland do not have an extradition treaty.
To examine the possibility of his return, two Irish police officers have traveled to Jordan. The aim is for Al-Saqar to face a possible murder charge in Ireland.
Authorities have said that Al-Saqar had been granted subsidiary protection status in Ireland. This is a form of humanitarian protection granted to people who do not meet the conditions for refugee status but face a risk of serious harm if returned to their country of origin.
Being granted this status had also led to his passport being returned. According to reports, this enabled him to leave Ireland before an international arrest warrant was issued against him.
Irish police have not officially named Al-Saqar as a suspect. However, authorities consider him a key person of interest in solving the case.
Carney reportedly settled in Ireland in 2021. She had begun a relationship with Al-Saqar after the two met during a pro-Palestinian protest.
Relatives have described the 43-year-old as a woman who was exceptionally devoted to other people and committed to defending human rights.
The investigation into the incident is continuing, while Irish police have urged anyone who may have information about the case to contact the authorities.
