Durmishi and Qatar’s labor minister sign memorandum on institutional cooperation

Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi received the Minister of Labor of the State of Qatar, H.E. Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, today at the Club of Deputies. Al Marri is on an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia at the head of a high-level government delegation.

During the meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of labor between the Ministry of Economy and Labor of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Labor of the State of Qatar. The agreement establishes the institutional basis for expanding bilateral cooperation and exchanging experience in the labor sector.

The document covers several areas of mutual interest, including the exchange of experience, the organization of study visits, and the sharing of best practices in labor relations, labor inspections, and occupational safety and health. It also provides for the exchange of expertise and views in the process of improving labor legislation.

The memorandum also establishes a Joint Committee, which will monitor and coordinate the implementation of the agreed activities and work on drafting future cooperation programs.

During the talks, Durmishi and Al Marri discussed opportunities to further strengthen economic and institutional relations between the two countries. The focus also included labor market development, the exchange of expertise, and the consolidation of the partnership in sectors of mutual interest.

“The signing of this Memorandum is an important step toward deepening relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the State of Qatar. Through institutional cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and best practices, we will contribute to the further advancement of labor market policies, the improvement of working conditions, and the strengthening of the capacities of our institutions. I am convinced that this partnership will open new opportunities for cooperation and bring concrete benefits to both countries,” Minister Durmishi said.

The visit by the Qatari delegation and the signing of the memorandum demonstrate the shared willingness to deepen bilateral relations and build a partnership based on mutual trust, cooperation, and the exchange of experience in the field of labor, in accordance with the legislation of both states.
