Double-decker bus on line 25 engulfed in flames in Vodno, injuries reported

A double-decker bus of NTP “Shkupi” was engulfed in flames in the Vodno area. The vehicle belonged to line 25, which goes up to Vodno.

Stojançe Angellov, director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, stated that Skopje’s firefighter teams are working to extinguish the fire and that the intervention is expected to be completed shortly. According to him, there is currently no danger of the flames spreading to the surrounding vegetation.

The Public Transport Enterprise in Skopje confirmed that the incident did not cause any injuries.

NTP announced that the driver reacted immediately, calmly and responsibly. According to the enterprise, he took all necessary measures, avoiding more serious consequences, greater material damage, and the spread of the fire into the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, the competent services have started relevant checks to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Public transport buses in Skopje have often faced defects, while earlier cases of fires and accidents have also been reported.

Over the past two years alone, according to reports, at least eight incidents have been recorded where buses were engulfed by fire. In some of these cases, the vehicles were heavily damaged or completely burned.
