Dotsova: Skopje must fulfill the 2022 European consensus to continue the process toward the EU

Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Mihaela Dotsova said that North Macedonia must implement the 2022 European consensus if it wants to move forward on its path toward the European Union.

After meeting with her counterpart from North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, on the sidelines of the 13th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process, Dotsova stressed that this position cannot be renegotiated and that constitutional changes are essential.

She also raised Sofia’s concerns over what she described as anti-Bulgarian demonstrations, as well as the burning of diplomatic vehicles belonging to the Bulgarian diplomatic mission. According to her, the perpetrator of the crime must receive a fair punishment.

On the other hand, Gashi invited Dotsova and the parliamentary delegation to visit Macedonia.

As previously reported by Gashi’s office, the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament told his Bulgarian counterpart that the creation of narratives focused on the past burdens relations between Macedonia and Bulgaria.
