Documents reveal when former Prime Minister Berisha will travel to the US

In June 2026, the entry ban imposed on the country’s former prime minister and current chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was lifted.

Berisha has since stated several times that he will soon travel to the US.

Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu obtained this document from diplomatic sources. Issued by the “International Democracy Union,” it contains details about a possible trip by Berisha to the US at the beginning of this September.

The document is titled “Confirmation of your participation in the IDU delegation to the Republican National Convention.”

The confirmation letter received by Berisha further reveals that the convention will be held in Dallas on September 9 and 10, and provides the following details:

“The IDU is pleased that you will be joining us, and we are confident that your participation in this historic gathering for the Republican Party will be of great value to the Democratic Party of Albania. Further details regarding the delegation’s movements, accreditation and the event program will be communicated to you by the IDU secretariat.”

Meanwhile, another document obtained by Top Channel, dated August 7 and issued by the American Training Institute, confirms Berisha’s registration as a participant in the Republican National Convention.

Following receipt of this confirmation, efforts have begun in Tirana by Gazment Bardhi.

Sources from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said that Gazment Bardhi, in his capacity as chairman of the Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Group, submitted a request seeking a state verbal note to enable Berisha to attend this event of the American Republicans.
