Doctors arrested over Greek singer’s death, Albanian journalist says they tried to hide evidence and had political connections

The sudden death of Greek artist Giorgos Mazonakis has shocked public opinion in the neighboring country, as the investigation has entered a new phase. Several doctors have been arrested, and the private clinic where the singer underwent a procedure is now under scrutiny by the authorities.

Speaking live on News24, Albanian journalist Etmond Guri, who lives in Greece, said the forensic report did not identify a heart attack as the cause of death. According to him, a medical procedure proved fatal, and the patient suffered severe complications.

Guri added that there had been serious attempts to destroy evidence and that the medical team had mishandled the situation.

He stressed that the doctors involved had strong political connections and that, in one instance, they even sought help regarding the patient’s condition by using the artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT.

“The case of the singer who died in Greece has divided public opinion in the country. Regarding the Mazonakis case, the clinic where he underwent the procedure was one of the most prominent in the country,” journalist Guri said. He added that politicians and well-known show business figures have acknowledged receiving services at the institution.

He also revealed disturbing details from the investigation, stressing that the conclusion of the forensic examination rejected the heart attack theory and pointed to a problematic procedure.

“There were attempts to make the evidence disappear, and Mazonakis suffered major complications. In one absurd instance, the doctors even used ChatGPT for help. The handling of the situation was catastrophic, and they tried to cover their tracks. These doctors have friendly relations with powerful politicians,” the journalist said.
