DMSH launches search for missing person in the Vardar River in Gostivar

Teams from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue have begun searching for a missing person who, according to reports, was seen near the Vardar River in the Gostivar area.

The operation was launched following an official request from the Gostivar Police Station, while the search is being conducted along the river, from critical points in the city to areas downstream.

Members of the rapid-response water rescue team have been deployed in the field, with logistical support from the Directorate’s regional unit in Gostivar. The institution’s deputy director, Kashmir Saliu, is also at the scene, while the teams are coordinating their work with the police and local services.

The Directorate for Protection and Rescue announced that the search will continue until the operation is fully completed.

The statement emphasized that the Directorate’s teams will remain engaged until the entire operation is concluded, regardless of the conditions in the field and the characteristics of the riverbed. According to the same source, the search is being carried out intensively along the Vardar River, starting from critical points in the city and extending to areas farther downstream, in close cooperation with police officers from the Gostivar Sector of Internal Affairs and local services.

The Directorate calls on residents of Gostivar and surrounding settlements who have information about the missing person or notice anything along the riverbed to immediately notify the police or the competent services by calling the emergency number 112.
