Divjaka on the 48th day of protest: residents oppose territorial division

Residents of Divjaka have continued their protest for the 48th consecutive day, demanding that the city retain its municipality status and opposing the new administrative division project.

During the gathering, speakers expressed criticism over the lack of support from the administration, farmers and businesses in the area. According to them, some of them do not engage in the protest due to fear of consequences or retaliation.

Protesters also opposed the stance of local elected officials and political representatives of the area. They declare that the proposed reorganization into 46 municipalities could lead to the disappearance of Divjaka as a separate unit.

Residents called on the prime minister and other representatives to withdraw from what they call the “Mazniku project.” They also opposed holding public hearings without the presence of commission members and deputies of the area.

After the protest ended, citizens marched through the streets of the city chanting the slogans “Divjaka municipality” and “Divjaka belongs to citizens, not traitors.”

The march marked the end of the 48th night of civic protest in Divjaka, while residents declared they will continue their presence in the square.
