“Digitalization removed a piece of paper”/ Rama: Albania is working on the first AI model for public procurement

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the country is working with technology giants to integrate artificial intelligence into public procurement, a system expected to become operational in 2028.

Speaking during Public Administration Week, Rama praised the progress of digitalization as the key tool for modernizing services, stressing that the new phase of the system will once and for all eliminate cadastral problems for citizens.

Referring to the success of the State Matura exam, the head of government reaffirmed that sustainable change and the prevention of abuses can only be achieved through technological development and the system.

“Digitalization removed a piece of paper. Holidays for emigrants used to mean queues between the beaches and service counters to get assistance. The drastic ant-like work to digitalize the cadastre has been completed, with EU support, within the set deadline. Now comes the next phase, the phase of building the system that will finally make the cadastre just like all other services. This cadastral nightmare will also disappear from the lives of Albanians.

Today, Albania is working to have the first artificial intelligence model for public procurement from A to Z. We are working with technology giants, it will be tested next year and then enter into operation in 2028. Once it is functional, it will definitively eliminate the problem of public funds and tenders. Sustainable improvements come only from the system. All the objectives set out in the law aim at this and technology will undoubtedly help a great deal even in areas that are more vulnerable. The State Matura was held and nothing was heard of the things that used to be heard in previous years,” Rama said.
