Diaspora heads to Tirana, Edison Lika gives details on the August 14, 15 and 16 protests: Car convoys set off from Europe

Edison Lika has made known details about the protests being organized in the capital. The activist confirmed that on August 14, 15 and 16, a massive presence of diaspora Albanians is expected on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, where they will join the civic resistance.

According to Lika, compatriots abroad have extraordinarily supported the resistance since the early days, while they have also been organizing simultaneously in the countries where they live. He stated that the protest has expanded beyond Albania’s borders and, based on available information, gatherings have taken place in more than 70 different cities across the West.

Speaking about the symbolic dates of August 14, 15 and 16, Lika said that the diaspora has self-organized to travel in groups towards Tirana via land routes. Many citizens have confirmed they will participate in the resistance at the square, while numerous groups have set off by car from German cities and have joined others in Austria.

The convoys will arrive in Albania through border points like Muriqan, before participants gather together on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard and join the massive protest.

Lika also noted that the diaspora now represents a serious political factor in support of change in the country. Finally, he confirmed that organizers are working with high intensity on the next protest action, which will be held during the month of September.
