Deadline for appeals over the electoral process in Brvenica expires

The deadline for filing complaints with the State Election Commission (SEC) regarding the voting process in the early local election for mayor of Brvenica has now expired. Until noon tomorrow, participants may appeal only the tabulation and determination of the results. The SEC must rule on complaints within 72 hours, while dissatisfied parties may file lawsuits with the Administrative Court.

Jovica Radeski, the SDSM candidate for mayor of Brvenica, thanked his voters and said the election results showed weakening support for the government.

“Compared with the previous mayoral election, VMRO-DPMNE has fallen by more than 13 percent, while SDSM has increased by 46 percent. If the roughly 400 votes for ZNAM and Levica that went to VMRO-DPMNE in Brvenica are also counted, the party’s decline amounts to more than 800 votes,” said Jovica Radeski, the SDSM candidate for mayor of Brvenica.

VMRO-DPMNE responded that “SDSM under Filipce has reached a point where it considers fourth place in the local elections a success.” According to the party, SDSM lost credibility long ago, while Filipce represents the best choice for party leader.

The SEC announced that Stojančo Radičevski of VMRO-DPMNE and Arkin Jahiji of the National Alliance for Integration have advanced to the second round of the local mayoral election in Brvenica. The second round will take place on November 1.
