Day 58 of the Citizens’ Revolt: Albanians Refuse to Give Up, Non-Negotiable Demand: Rama, Resign!

The citizens’ protest against the government will continue today in Tirana, with the latest rally marking the 58th day of the revolt. Citizens are expected to gather once again outside the Prime Minister’s Office, reiterating their demand for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation and the government’s removal.

The protest follows a long wave of daily rallies, during which protesters have marched through the streets of the capital and repeated their calls against the government.

The protesters’ demand remains unchanged and is described by them as non-negotiable: Edi Rama’s resignation.

During protests in recent days, citizens have also expressed their opposition to the prime minister’s statements, declaring that they are no longer seeking new platforms or promises, but the government’s removal and, according to them, the creation of a transitional government that would guarantee free elections.

Meanwhile, the protest has taken on a broader civic dimension, with calls repeatedly echoing through the streets of Tirana.

Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, in a recent statement, acknowledged that socialists, supporters or voters of the Socialist Party, and public administration employees had also taken part in the protests, describing these reactions as a signal to the ruling majority.
