Danish Prime Minister Responds to Surgeon Who Criticized Her Nose: I’m Happy With My Body

A plastic surgeon suggested that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen correct a small mark on her nose, but she chose to respond publicly to the comment.

Frederiksen, 48, shared a screenshot of the exchange with the doctor on Instagram and wrote: “Oh no. I’m happy with my body.”

The prime minister said that comments about her appearance are nothing new. Over the years, she has received messages about her teeth, hair and the mark on her nose, while some people have even advised her to use Botox. “I’ve lost count of how many messages I’ve received over the years about my appearance,” Frederiksen said.

She stressed that she feels completely comfortable with her body and that women in public roles are often judged for their appearance. “I’m absolutely fine with my body, as it is when you’re a woman approaching 50,” she said.

Frederiksen said she welcomes messages from citizens on various issues, although she would prefer the focus to be on more important topics. “If you’re going to write to me—and you’re more than welcome to do so—I hope you’ll use your time to talk about something more important. Not my nose,” the prime minister wrote.

She concluded her message by expressing solidarity with women who face comments about their appearance every day. “Today, I’m sending a special loving thought to all of you who have to put up with the ‘perfect imperfections’ we face every day,” Frederiksen concluded.
