Customs seize 30,000 undeclared euros at the Vërmica border crossing

Kosovo Customs’ anti-smuggling units selected a vehicle for inspection today at the Vërmica Border Crossing.

During the inspection, officials discovered cash totaling 30,000 euros, which had not been declared to the customs authorities.

Kosovo Customs recalled that, pursuant to Article 33, paragraph 1, of Law No. 05/L-096 on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism, every person entering or leaving Kosovo who transports monetary instruments worth 10,000.00 euros or more, or the equivalent amount in another currency, must declare the amount and its verifiable source in writing to the customs official.

The customs institution stressed that it will continue its efforts to prevent and combat smuggling, as well as the illegal circulation of monetary instruments.
