Crocodile he fed for two years kills park worker in Papua New Guinea

A keeper at Adventure Park in Papua New Guinea has died after being attacked by the crocodile he had been caring for.

The incident happened on Saturday at the park located in the Port Moresby area. Witnesses said the reptile grabbed the employee by the legs and then performed the so-called “death roll.”

The crocodile held him for about an hour. Officers were forced to fire more than 10 times to free the employee from its jaws.

After being pulled from the attack, the man was rushed to hospital, but severe injuries caused his death on Sunday morning.

According to witness accounts given to ABC, the attack began when the keeper held a chicken near the crocodile’s fence. The reptile grabbed the chicken and tried to pull it toward the aquarium.

The employee, who had worked at the park for about two years, reportedly whispered during the incident: “I haven’t done anything wrong.”

Videos published in recent months show park employees getting very close to the crocodiles and carrying out feeding demonstrations in front of visitors.

The employee’s death has reignited debates over safety at the park and the way dangerous animals are handled during activities held for the public.
