Crash on the Berat–Ura e Kuçit road / 40-year-old cyclist hit by vehicle, driver flees

A vehicle hit a 40-year-old man who was riding a bicycle this evening in the village of Poshnje, on the Berat–Ura e Kuçit national road, and then left the scene.

Endri Selfaj was found lying in the road by several passersby, who notified police about the accident.

Initially, the 40-year-old was transported by ambulance to the emergency department of Berat Regional Hospital, where he received first aid. Because of his injuries, he was later taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.

Large police forces arrived at the scene and began the initial investigative actions. To locate the vehicle and apprehend its driver, security camera footage from businesses and residences along this road has been seized.

Meanwhile, investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident and identify the driver, who left without providing assistance to the injured man.
