CNN: Secret Service investigates Iranian video threatening Barron Trump

The United States Secret Service has learned of a video broadcast by Iranian state television that appears to contain threats against the life of Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son.

According to CNN, Iranian hard-line media have repeatedly published threatening material targeting President Trump and his family. These publications appeared after the killing of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as a large number of his family members, at the beginning of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in February.

Until now, the threats had also targeted First Lady Melania Trump, while this is the first time they have been linked to Barron Trump. “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that could be perceived as a threat against the individuals we protect,” spokesperson Nate Herring told CNN. He added that, “due to operational security concerns, we do not discuss matters involving intelligence information related to protection.”

The video lasts about three minutes and opens with a graphic in English displaying the question: “Where should we kill Barron Trump?!” The video also mentions several places where President Trump’s youngest son is publicly known to stay, including Trump Tower in New York.

At the end, the narrator declares that people are “eagerly waiting to receive the $10 million reward.”

The video was broadcast over the weekend by IRIB, Iran’s state broadcaster, which is considered close to the hard-line circles of Iran’s regime. The head of the broadcaster is appointed directly by Iran’s Supreme Leader.
