Clash within the LDK, Hykmete Bajrami accuses Lumir Abdixhiku: You are a three-time loser

Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Hykmete Bajrami has reacted harshly to party leader Lumir Abdixhiku, whom she blamed for repeated electoral defeats, the degradation and division of the LDK.

Responding to Abdixhiku’s earlier reaction, Bajrami said he had no right to speak about principles, ambition or the state without first taking responsibility for the election results. She also criticized the way he is handling political developments in the country.

According to her, the main issues facing the state include the missed constitutional deadlines for the constitution of the Assembly, ministries being led by people who have received a mandate as MPs, constitutional and legal violations, inflation, and Kosovo’s relations with the European Union.

Bajrami said she had chosen not to speak publicly about the LDK leader for a period of time, with the aim of protecting the party, which she described as her “home.”

“A three-time loser, a loser in successive elections, responsible for the degradation and division of the party, is speaking about principles, the state and ambition in the LDK,” she wrote.

“You are the last—absolutely the last—person who can speak about principles, ambition, the state and power, because principles are measured by responsibility,” Bajrami said.

She recalled that Abdixhiku should have stepped down as party leader after the first defeat, in accordance with his public promise and commitment to resign.

“When you lost the first election, you should have kept your public promise and commitment to step down,” the LDK MP said.

“When you repeated the defeat, you should have taken responsibility and made way for a different leadership,” she continued.

Bajrami added that even after the result of June 7, when Abdixhiku recorded yet another record of losses, he should have left the leadership of the LDK.

“And when you recorded yet another record of losses on June 7, you should have stepped down from the leadership of the LDK with your head bowed,” she wrote.

The MP acknowledged that the state should not revolve around anyone’s personal ambition, but argued that it is currently being run by a government that, in her view, is undermining the constitutional, legal and institutional order while attempting to seize and control the institutions every day.

“Yes, it is true that the state does not revolve around a personal ambition. But today the state is being driven by a government that is trampling on the constitutional, legal and institutional order, while attempting every day to seize and control the institutions,” Bajrami said.

She called for an end to ambitions that, in her view, seek to destroy the LDK.

“And precisely to stop this degradation, we must say STOP to anyone’s ambitions to destroy the LDK,” she said.

Bajrami emphasized that, in her view, the LDK has been and will remain a defender of the state, institutions and democratic order, refusing to accept the subordination of the state to those in power.

“Let us talk about the state! The LDK has been and will be the guardian of the state, institutions and democratic order, not an admirer of the state’s subordination to those in power,” the MP wrote.

Among the issues she described as matters of state, Bajrami listed the situation created by the exceeding of all constitutional deadlines for the constitution of the Assembly. She also raised questions about the legal and constitutional validity that a possible constitution of the Assembly tomorrow would have.

“Nineteen ministries continue to be led by people who have already received a mandate as MPs,” she stressed.

According to Bajrami, four ministries are not included in the Budget Law of the Republic of Kosovo for 2026, but nevertheless continue their work and spending of public funds, which she described as unlawful.

She also mentioned blocked institutions and limited institutional activity, as well as the relativization and daily violation of constitutional and legal norms.

“We have constitutional and legal norms that are being relativized and violated every day, while there are tendencies for all of this to become normalized,” Bajrami said.

The MP also raised concerns about education, describing the situation as a serious degradation, also demonstrated by the PISA results, while noting the complete lack of political responsibility.

“We have runaway inflation. Single-source tenders have become the norm. The capture of institutions has now been completed. We have spent 960 days under EU sanctions. We are at risk of losing 160 million euros from the Growth Plan. Our foreign policy is at its lowest point,” she said.

Bajrami concluded her reaction by reiterating that the state should not be placed at the service of a personal ambition.

“I agree: the state does not revolve around one ambition. Precisely for this reason, let us talk about the state, but first we must distinguish between the state and the chair. Let us return to the state!” Hykmete Bajrami concluded.
