Avdullah Hoti proposes Kujtim Shala as LDK chairman and Hykmete Bajrami as prime minister

Avdullah Hoti, former prime minister and a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has publicly presented his vision for the party’s future leadership.

According to his proposal, Kujtim Shala should become the new chairman of the LDK, while Hykmete Bajrami should lead the electoral list and be the party’s candidate for prime minister.

“I want to say publicly how I envision the future leadership of the LDK, with which we will successfully face the next elections. By choosing a leadership, a new chairman of the LDK, who is Kujtim Shala,” Hoti said on the Debat Plus program.

He clarified that his support for the party’s new leadership is directly linked to Shala’s name.

“So, Kujtim Shala should be the chairman of the LDK. My commitment, together with all my colleagues, is for Hykmete Bajrami to be the electoral list leader and our candidate for prime minister,” Hoti said.

He added that Shala and Bajrami are the most credible figures around whom the LDK can achieve unity.

“These are the two names that I deeply believe are the most credible in the eyes of the public, and whom we will all stand behind, without exception,” he said.

Hoti emphasized that the idea of a change at the top of the party should not be understood as the exclusion of the current chairman, Lumir Abdixhiku.

“Imagine a team, an LDK led by Kujtim Shala, and an electoral list led by Hykmete Bajrami as its candidate for prime minister, without excluding Lumir. Absolutely, of course—that is not even under discussion,” Hoti said.

He called for Abdixhiku, along with other LDK figures, to be included in the new team. According to him, such a composition would give the party the opportunity to contest the next elections with a strong team.

The former prime minister expressed his conviction that unity within the LDK in all its branches could be achieved through Shala and Bajrami.

“I am convinced that around these two names—one as chairman of the LDK and Mrs. Bajrami as the electoral list leader and our candidate for prime minister—the LDK can unite from Dragash to Kamenica and from Podujeva to Prizren,” Hoti concluded.
