Burjani: Conditioning the vote for president is blocking the formation of the Assembly

Political analyst Blerim Burjani considers linking the vote to elect the president with votes for the deputy speakers and members of the Assembly Presidency representing the opposition to be unconstitutional.

He says that the implementation of constitutional procedures cannot be conditioned by political agreements or by whether a political entity decides to give its vote to another party for president.

According to Burjani, such a practice is unacceptable and harmful, as it is hindering the constitution of the Assembly and respect for the Constitution. He stresses that political developments are becoming increasingly clear and that the country is moving closer to extraordinary elections.

Imposing the condition that VV receive the vote for the election of the president in exchange for votes for the deputy speakers of the Assembly and for members of the Assembly Presidency from the opposition constitutes an unconstitutional act. The process defined by the Constitution cannot depend on political calculations, much less on a party’s decision to give or withhold its vote from another party for president.

Conditioning is a political issue, but under the current circumstances it is unacceptable, harmful and contrary to the constitution of the Assembly. For this reason, it should not be used as a justification to obstruct or oppose the implementation of the country’s Constitution. The situation is becoming increasingly clear and appears to be heading toward extraordinary elections.
