Albin Kurti’s call for the selection of a consensus president has placed Kosovo’s opposition before an important political test.

Publicist Elida Buçpapaj welcomed Prime Minister Kurti’s position in a reaction published on Facebook. According to her, the statement constitutes a direct invitation for the opposition to abandon partisan calculations and propose a figure capable of uniting Kosovo.
Buçpapaj believes that responsibility now rests with the opposition. It must show whether it has a genuinely unifying candidate or whether it will continue to remain conditioned by its own political interests.
In her message, the publicist emphasizes that Kurti has spoken publicly and clearly, directly and unequivocally, so that his position may be heard by everyone inside and outside Dardania, by Dardanians in the diaspora, by the entire diaspora, as well as by Western allies, with whom, she says, we are closely connected.
She writes that the prime minister has invited the opposition to propose for the Republic of Kosovo a consensus-based, unifying president—a prominent figure with integrity who stands above the parties.
According to Buçpapaj’s conclusion, Kosovo’s opposition now has two paths: either to present a unifying, respected, honored and universally valued figure, or to face the consequences of its position.
