Buckingham Palace disputes Harry claim: Prince will not be accommodated at royal residence during stay in London

Buckingham Palace has denied reports that Prince Harry will stay at the palace during his visit to London this week, contradicting what had earlier been communicated by the Duke of Sussex’s team, according to whom he had accepted an invitation to stay at the royal residence.

According to Buckingham Palace’s version, the accommodation option was no longer valid because the deadline to accept it had expired. Prince Harry’s representatives, meanwhile, say the offer was withdrawn at the last moment, even though he had formally accepted it and had also made the necessary arrangements for his personal security.

The Duke of Sussex’s team has expressed dissatisfaction over this development, stressing that the Palace was aware of an imminent court decision that directly affected travel plans, while it remains unclear why the offer was canceled after it had been accepted.

Harry is in the United Kingdom as part of activities marking one year before the Invictus Games are held in Birmingham. During this visit, he is not accompanied by Meghan Markle or their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

This situation is linked to the family’s security issue. Prince Harry continues to challenge the removal of state-funded police protection, which was reduced after he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.

Sources close to the royal family have said that King Charles has no role in the decision-making related to security measures for his son. Harry’s team, on the other hand, announced that last week he secured alternative protection measures, which enabled him to confirm the trip to London.

Last year, Prince Harry lost his legal battle with the British government over the restoration of automatic police protection. He continues to seek a review of the matter by the authorities overseeing the security of the royal family and public figures.
