Bozhinovska: Government will take measures for citizens if fuel crisis worsens

Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska said the government would activate all necessary measures to limit the impact on citizens if the rise in fuel prices escalates.

Responding to journalists’ questions, she said the authorities were closely monitoring developments. According to Bozhinovska, the increase in fuel prices is linked to global factors and military conflicts over which the state has no influence.

The minister said that the measure reducing VAT on fuel from 18 to 10 percent remains in force.

Bozhinovska explained that further reductions could also be considered, while fiscal measures are drafted by the Ministry of Finance and coordinated with the government.

The situation is expected to be discussed at the government’s next session, which will be held on Tuesday, when further steps will also be determined.

Regarding the company “Okta,” she said there are currently no new negotiations for an additional discount. However, this possibility has not been ruled out if the crisis deepens.

The minister added that no such talks have been initiated so far, but if the situation worsens, the government will take every measure to mitigate the risk facing citizens.
