The first round was held on October 18, when the two candidates who received the most votes qualified for the runoff.
In the October 18 vote, 16,256 citizens were eligible to vote. Turnout reached 46.56%, with a total of 7,565 voters.
Since no candidate received the required majority, a second round is being held in the municipality.
The early mayoral election was called following the sudden death of Mayor Jovica Ilievski.
