Berisha welcomes joint Albanian list in Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë, calls for mass turnout in elections

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has welcomed an agreement reached by Albanian political parties in Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë to run together in Serbia’s parliamentary elections.

In a social media post, Berisha described the agreement as a welcome step, stressing that it serves the interests of Albanians living in the three municipalities.

He called on Albanians living in Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë, as well as those living abroad, to take part in the elections to strengthen the Albanian community’s political representation.

According to Berisha, the Albanian political parties of Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë reached an agreement yesterday in Prishtina, in the presence of Kosovo’s prime minister, to run on a joint list called the “Albanian Coalition” in the Republic of Serbia’s early elections.

The Democratic Party welcomed the agreement, saying it is in the best interests of Albanians in these Serbian municipalities. Its statement said that Albanians in these areas, who remain Serbian citizens, are the most oppressed minority in Europe under the Belgrade regime.

The Democratic Party called on all Albanians from these municipalities, whether they live there or abroad, to vote in the elections to secure the best possible representation for Albanians in Preshevë, Bujanoc and Medvegjë.
