Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha announced that the party has completed the reorganisation of its leadership structures. According to him, this represents the deepest process of renewal within the DP since its founding.
During a discussion, Berisha said the new leadership bodies have a broader presence of women and young people. He stressed that the transformation is not only about numbers, but also about the quality of leadership, stating that the DP now has a team capable of facing future political challenges.

According to Berisha, the Democratic Party completed the full institutionalisation of its bodies last week. He said the process was guided by the motto of renewing the DP, not only in numerical terms but also to correct dimensions he considered deficient within the party.
Berisha stated that women and young people now make up 60 percent of the DP’s National Council. According to him, this ratio is particularly important, as the party had inherited a distortion from which, he said, it has now definitively broken away.
He announced that two-thirds of the elected DP leadership have been elected for the first time, while three party vice presidents have also been elected for the first time. Of the 14 secretaries, only three have been re-elected.
The Democratic Party leader said that this process has established the necessary representation ratios within the party. He added that renewal had been the main demand of citizens, DP members and supporters, stressing that not only have the statistics changed, but outstanding qualities and values have also emerged.
According to Berisha, in the final stage of its journey, the DP has a team with all the capabilities needed to lead the party towards the successful fulfilment of its mission.
He noted that the DP relies on the vote of its membership and expressed gratitude to his associates who were not elected but who, according to him, have made an extraordinary contribution. Berisha said he holds them in the highest regard.
Many of them, he said, hold other important positions in the Democratic Party, in the parliamentary group or in missions related to fundamental reforms in the interest of the party and the country. Berisha stressed that the renewal process will continue and will not stop.
He added that the DP is joined by well-known figures and individuals with outstanding merits in their respective fields, some of whom competed successfully in this process. According to him, many others have also expressed their willingness to contribute and to place their intellectual and professional potential at the service of Albanian citizens and the party’s vision, in Albania, Europe, the world and wherever they may be.
Berisha also announced that, for the first time in this renewal process, the role and position of the diaspora has been institutionalised. He said important first steps have been taken, including the election of a party vice president and a secretary for the diaspora.
According to him, further steps will be taken to redefine the diaspora’s role in the political life of the DP and Albania. Berisha said important progress has been made for those who rightly expected renewal to be the main feature of the process, and that other steps will follow.
