Bekim Sali: the freedom of a people cannot be the object of any trial, the KLA remains the pride of the Albanian nation

Bekim Sali, first deputy prime minister and minister for European affairs, commented on the judicial process in The Hague against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

In his response, Sali stressed that the freedom of a people cannot be the object of any trial and described the KLA as one of the symbols of Kosovo’s resistance and liberation.

Recalling the crimes committed during the war in Kosovo and the civilian victims of the ethnic cleansing campaign by the Milošević regime, Sali wrote: “The Kosovo Liberation Army will forever remain the pride of the Albanian nation.”

He expressed the expectation that justice in The Hague would deliver an assessment that, according to him, “will clearly distinguish the aggressor from the victim.”

“Because equating the aggressor with the victim would be a second murder of the victim,” Sali declared, ending with the message: “Freedom has a name!”
