Basha: Official vehicle fleet to be monitored by GPS

The Government of Kosovo has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to manage official vehicles using GPS technology, Minister Dimal Basha announced.

According to Basha, the system will strengthen control and oversight of how vehicles owned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport are used.

He said GPS tracking will allow for more organized and efficient fleet management while increasing accountability and transparency in the use of public assets.

“Another step toward digitalization and transparency! Today, the government approved the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport’s initiative to manage its vehicle fleet through a GPS system,” Basha wrote.

The minister said the new technology has been designed to allow for expansion, so that official vehicles belonging to other government institutions can be included later.

“This system will bring a new standard to the management of the Ministry’s official vehicles, allowing better control and oversight of their use. At the same time, the system has been designed so that it can be expanded in the future to include the official vehicles of the entire government,” he said.

Basha described the initiative as part of government policies to digitalize public administration and improve the management of state assets.

“This is our approach to digitalization: more control and oversight, greater accountability and transparency, and more efficient management of public resources,” the minister of Infrastructure and Transport wrote.
