Bardhi: PD’s requests on the protest and the EP report were rejected without reason, Parliament the only one without a response

PD parliamentary group leader Gazment Bardhi spoke to the media this Thursday after the meeting of the Conference of Chairpersons, where he said that the three requests submitted by the PD, including the motion for a debate on the protest and the EP report, were rejected without any argument.

He said that the Parliament of Albania remains the only institution that has paid no attention to the citizens’ protests that have been taking place in Tirana for days. According to Bardhi, these protests have drawn international interest, while he underlined that the opposition is not acting as the protesters’ spokesperson.

“It is a globally known fact that the protest of Albanian citizens has received the attention of several European parliaments. It received the attention of MEPs in the latest EP session. The only parliament on the face of the earth that has paid no attention to it is the Parliament of Albania.

The PD parliamentary group has submitted a request for an urgent interpellation regarding whether the concerns of citizens have been taken into consideration, secondly on the role it should play in addressing them, and it has also submitted a motion with debate on the report that sets out the homework.

This resolution should have been our work plan from day one. All three requests were rejected today without argument and with the words that we are acting as the protesters’ spokesperson,” Bardhi said.
