Ban on movement in North Macedonia’s forests extended until September 30

At the request of the Public Enterprise National Forests, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy has approved the extension of a complete ban on movement in forests and forest land managed by this public enterprise.

The measure will be in force from September 1 through September 30, throughout the day, from 00:00 to 24:00. The decision was taken because of the high risk of forest fires in open areas.

The ban does not apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Forest Police, the Crisis Management Center, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, the State Inspectorate for Forestry and Hunting, the Public Enterprise National Forests, entities engaged in forestry activities and work or in forest protection, or persons who have written permits to move through forests.

Movement will be permitted only with written authorization issued by the branches of the Public Enterprise National Forests – Skopje for the territories under their management. Responsibility for enforcing this measure lies with employees of the Public Enterprise National Forests engaged in protection activities, the State Inspectorate for Forestry and Hunting, the Forest Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Ministry of Agriculture announced that citizens who wish to move through park forests, such as Vodno, or through national parks, should contact the legal entities managing these areas for information.
