Balluku investigation: SPAK questions businessman Alban Eftimi

Alban Eftimi, a businessman with the company “Atelier 4,” appeared at the premises of the Special Prosecution Office this Thursday, where he gave testimony as part of the investigation involving former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, journalist Klodiana Lala reports.

Eftimi’s appearance at SPAK follows searches conducted at the end of July at the premises of “Atelier 4.” During the operation, special investigators seized documents and materials suspected of being linked to an interior design project for a luxury villa in southern Albania. Prosecutors are reviewing the materials seized during the search and comparing them with other information and evidence gathered during the investigation.

The investigation is focused on a villa in Dhërmi that was previously seized by the authorities. Investigators suspect that the property may be an undeclared asset linked to Belinda Balluku.

The investigation into the former deputy prime minister involves suspicions of corruption and money laundering, while SPAK is also looking into other circumstances that may be linked to her assets and activities.

Belinda Balluku is also a defendant in another criminal case, in which she is accused of violating the principle of equality among participants in public tenders or auctions. The case concerns procedures for the construction of the Llogara Tunnel and sections of Tirana’s Outer Ring Road.
