Bajrami criticizes budget review: By June 30, more than 60% of capital projects had 0% implementation

Hykmete Bajrami, an MP from the LDK, has criticized the way the government is conducting the budget review process for 2026.

To argue for the necessity of a proper review, she referred to data from the Ministry of Finance. According to Bajrami, the six-month report on budget expenditures shows that, by June 30, more than 60% of capital projects had recorded 0% implementation.

The MP announced that today, the majority of parliamentary committees had the Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on Budget Appropriations for 2026 on their agendas for review.

She stressed that the government’s designation of this process as a budget review does not correspond to the opportunities given to budget organizations. According to her, only the Ministry of Finance has had the opportunity to review its own budget, while the other budget organizations have not had this opportunity.

Bajrami also stated that during the six years in power, the Vetëvendosje Movement has not carried out a proper budget review. She emphasized that the Ministry of Finance’s own reports demonstrate the need for such a process.
