Aziri warns: Without the diaspora’s vote in local elections as well, the law will be blocked

The Albanian Alliance has clearly expressed its position regarding the changes to the Electoral Code, linking its support to the inclusion of the diaspora’s right to vote in local elections as well.

In a statement, MP Elmi Aziri of this political force stressed that although they have been constructive and committed to reaching consensus during the months-long talks, there is a red line on which they will make no concessions.

“During the months-long meetings between the parties on the Electoral Code, the Albanian Alliance had its own proposals both on electoral districts, on the financing model, and on many other issues. But we were working in the interest of consensus. What we will not give up on is the possibility for the diaspora to vote in local elections as well. It is very simple!” Aziri said.

Aziri sent a clear signal to the other political parties, warning of a complete blockage of the process if this demand is not taken into account./INA/
