Around 700 Filipino Women Obtained Macedonian Passports Through the Embassy in Australia This Year

As North Macedonia grapples with population decline, the number of members of its diaspora continues to grow. This expansion is linked not only to new waves of emigration, but also to the families that the country’s citizens establish abroad.

Unofficial data show that around 700 Filipino women in Australia have obtained Macedonian passports this year alone. They are married to citizens of North Macedonia and, on that basis, have become eligible to receive the document. This means that they will be able to vote in our country’s next elections and influence domestic political developments, Fokus reports.

However, Filipino women represent only a portion of the foreign nationals joining the Macedonian diaspora in this way. Every year, foreigners who speak Macedonian and are originally from Africa, European countries, Asia or other continents can be seen in Skopje and other major cities across the country. (INA)
