ARDC Official Deletes Mladić Post and Apologises After VLEN Reaction

Following strong criticism from VLEN over the glorification of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić, the director of the Agency for the Exercise of Community Rights, Dalibor Kitanović, has removed the post that sparked controversy from social media and issued an apology.

His response came after three days of silence, in a statement in which Kitanović said he apologised to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and the ministers, who, according to him, became involved in a political clash because of the issue.

He stated that he is ready to answer for his actions, but stressed that he never intended to insult or humiliate any people, religion or ethnic community.

The reactions were prompted by a photograph he published, showing Ratko Mladić alongside figures from Serbian history, including Draža Mihajlović. The photograph was accompanied by the caption, “Generals of the Heavenly Army.”

“I am ready to take responsibility for every word I have said. But I will not take responsibility for others manipulating my words. I will not accept that the removal of my post be turned into an admission of something I did not do,” Kitanović wrote.

He added that he would not allow his humane behaviour to be seen as weakness, stressing that he would not allow either his people or his party to be insulted through him.
