Another criminal complaint filed against Ramiz Merko, former mayor of Struga

The Department of Internal Affairs in Struga has filed a criminal complaint against the former mayor of the municipality, Ramiz Merko, as well as against A.B. (40), both residents of Struga, and N.R. (57), from the village of Poum in Struga. They are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of negligent performance of official duties.

According to the allegations, while serving as mayor of Struga, Merko abused his authority and official position. He is accused of failing to carry out the necessary supervision and acting in violation of the Law on Construction by unlawfully signing a building permit for a cadastral plot in the village of Mislesheva, Struga.

The two other suspects, who served as advisers in the Sector for Urban Planning, Municipal Affairs, Traffic and Environmental Protection, as well as deputy head of the same sector, had previously unlawfully drafted the approval. The document was prepared on the basis of incomplete documentation and without an attached conceptual design, making its issuance contrary to the provisions of the Law on Construction.
