Andin Hoti against the Specialist Chambers verdict: “Not in my name

Minister for Labour, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, Andin Hoti, has reacted to the Specialist Chambers’ decision regarding Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

He expressed his opposition to the verdict, stressing that justice is still lacking for his father, Ukshin Hoti, as well as for thousands of other victims of the war.

Hoti called on citizens to maintain calm, composure and dignity, while asking them to await the decision of the second instance.

“Not in my name,” was the conclusion of his reaction.

Hoti said that the sentences handed down today weigh on the Albanians who, according to him, defended the country at a time when Kosovo was burning, families were being massacred and an entire people was being expelled from their homes.

He mentioned Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi by name.

Meanwhile, Hoti said he continues to await the truth and justice for his father, stressing that 27 years have passed without anyone being tried or convicted for his disappearance and for the torture and mistreatment he allegedly endured.

He added that Ukshin Hoti is only one of thousands of cases awaiting justice.

“Where is the justice for the more than 1,300 Albanian children who were killed and disappeared?” Hoti asked, raising the same question regarding the more than 13,000 civilians who were killed and 20,000 women who were raped.

Hoti also demanded answers regarding the missing persons, whose families are still waiting for a grave where they can lay a flower, as well as regarding those who carried out massacres, burned homes, raped and disappeared people who were taken alive.

According to him, the sentences announced today are political, while true justice for the Albanian victims continues to be absent.

“At these difficult moments, I call on the people to remain calm, composed and dignified. Our anger is great, but Kosovo needs our wisdom. Let us await the decision of the second instance and continue our demand for justice with our heads held high,” he wrote.
