Amid Protests Demanding His Removal, Rama Defends the “Mountain Package”: They Judge Politics from Cafés

Responding to the mass protests that have swept the country, Prime Minister Edi Rama focused on the “Mountain Package,” which he defended.

During a Facebook address from Theth, Rama questioned whether critics of the initiative were familiar with the law’s provisions and the reasons behind its drafting.

The head of government said he did not know how much information was available to those who, according to him, view the mountains from the city and judge politics from cafés.

He explained that in Albania, particularly in northern areas, there are territories where residents and communities have neither recognized nor accepted the law on land distribution.

According to Rama, this is why the land was divided among the residents themselves, as “1501” did not determine its distribution based on what they had previously owned.

The prime minister said he had chosen to speak directly to share some information about the “Mountain Package.”
