Alliance: VV submitted to the Serbian List’s agenda by voting for Tanja Vujoviq

Kushtrim Xhemaili, spokesperson for the Alliance, described the vote to elect Tanja Vujoviq, a representative of the Serbian List, as deputy speaker of the Kosovo Assembly as evidence of the government’s “height of hypocrisy and populism.”

According to Xhemaili, lawmakers from the Vetëvendosje Movement, who had opposed several candidates in previous votes, ultimately supported Vujoviq.

“There is absolutely nothing, not a single thing, that distinguishes Tanja Vujoviq from Sllavko Simiq. Both are under the same direct command from Belgrade, and both have the mission of sabotaging Kosovo’s statehood,” he said.

The Alliance spokesperson said that Vujoviq’s stance toward Kosovo’s institutions could be understood from her public statements.

“Anyone who searches online can find Vujoviq’s scandalous statements, in which she openly calls Kosovo ‘Metohija,’ says that she works solely for Serbia’s system, and compares the situation in the north to ‘Ottoman rule,’” Xhemaili wrote.

Comparing her with Simiq, Xhemaili said that the only difference between them concerned the way they opposed Kosovo’s institutions.

“The only difference is that Simiq fought our institutions from within the Assembly, while Vujoviq, as the dean of illegal structures, fought them forcefully from outside as well, even publicly,” he said.

Xhemaili accused Vetëvendosje of showing through today’s vote that it has neither principles nor political red lines.

“They rejected the first names only to sell ‘patriotism’ to militants on social networks, before surrendering to vote for exactly the same agenda of the Serbian List,” the Alliance spokesperson said.

In the end, he reiterated the Alliance’s position that developments in the Assembly constituted a “coordinated theater” between the government and the Serbian List.

“The Alliance said this long ago: this coordinated theater between the government and the Serbian List is a pure charade that is holding the dignity of the Republic hostage!” Xhemaili concluded.
