Ali Ahmeti convenes the Central Presidency of the DUI, developments concerning former KLA leaders discussed

Ali Ahmeti, chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration, held a meeting today with the Presidency of the General Council, namely the Central Presidency of the DUI. The meeting addressed the country’s current political situation and measures to strengthen the party’s organizational and structural capacities.

According to the DUI’s statement, particular attention was also paid to the decision issued on September 16, 2026, by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

The Central Presidency stressed that, at a time when Albanians have focused their attention on The Hague and the decision concerning KLA members, it is necessary to recall how this process began, the claims on which it was built, and what remains of them after all these years.

According to the Presidency’s assessment, the initiative that led to the establishment of the Specialist Court was based on Dick Marty’s report and serious allegations of organ trafficking. However, after many years of investigations and the development of the judicial process, none of the allegations for which the Court was established was proven. In the absence of evidence, according to the DUI, a case was built against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi.

The statement reiterates that the KLA’s war aimed to liberate Kosovo and secure its freedom, while its history and the sacrifice of a people for freedom cannot be put on trial through a contrived judicial process.

The DUI described the protests organized after the verdict was announced as a legitimate form of civic expression in a democratic society. According to the party, no democratic state and no democratic constitution in the world prohibits the right to protest.

Citizens have the right to express their positions and grievances through peaceful, nonviolent protests. At the conclusion of the statement, the DUI called for the history of Kosovo’s liberation war not to be distorted.
