During her speech, she was unable to hold back her tears as she spoke about Albanians who travel abroad to receive medical treatment. According to her, these patients face numerous obstacles, particularly because of the lack of necessary healthcare services in Albania.
The nurse said that in Italy she sees patients from Albania every day who are unable to receive treatment in their own country and travel to Italy, often without even knowing the language. She expressed her sorrow over their situation and asked why they should not be treated in Albania.
She said that over the years she has heard many Albanian citizens voice dissatisfaction with the state of the country’s hospitals, prompting them to seek treatment abroad.
The nurse said that after bad experiences in Albanian hospitals, many of them choose to leave the country because they fear they could lose their lives in Albania.
Her message was that Albanian citizens should have access to high-quality healthcare in their own country and should not be forced to travel outside Albania for treatment.
