Albanian Alliance accuses Tetovo Municipality of failing to display the Albanian flag

The Albanian Alliance has criticized the way Tetovo was decorated for the state holiday, claiming that the municipality excluded the Albanian national flag while displaying the Vergina Sun symbol in public spaces.

According to the party, the use of this symbol is contrary to the obligations arising from the Prespa Agreement. Its statement also said that the law provides for the display of the Albanian flag in municipalities where Albanians constitute the majority.

The party addressed Tetovo Mayor Bilall Kasami and VLEN, demanding clarification on who approved the display of the Vergina Sun and the legal basis for the decision.

“Why was the Albanian flag overlooked?” and “On what legal basis was this choice made?” were among the questions raised by the Albanian Alliance.

Tetovo Municipality had not responded to the party’s accusations by the time the article was published.
