The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has blamed the Municipality of Tetovo and the Government, saying that their institutional inaction directly contributed to the Constitutional Court annulling the decision on the naming of streets, squares, and infrastructure facilities in Tetovo.
According to the opposition party, this position is supported by the reasoning made public by the Constitutional Court. It states that during the procedure, four official requests were sent to the Municipality of Tetovo and three others to the Government, with the aim of securing the documentation needed for a full review of the case.

DUI believes that neither the Municipality nor the Government submitted the requested material, thus leaving unprotected a decision that, according to the party, has for nearly two decades been part of Tetovo’s urban identity.
The party’s reaction states that “In seven separate instances, the institutions led by VLEN and VMRO-DPMNE did not take even the most basic step to protect the Albanian names of Tetovo’s streets and squares.”
DUI describes this development as an “institutional scandal” and raises doubts about the way the responsible authorities handled the issue. It is demanding public clarification on who made the decision for the Municipality of Tetovo not to defend this ruling and why the Government failed to respond even after three requests from the Constitutional Court.
“Citizens have the right to know whether this is a matter of incompetence, negligence, or a conscious political decision,” DUI stressed.
According to the party, the consequences of this inaction are now falling on the citizens of Tetovo, while the political responsibility for the latest developments, it says, cannot be avoided.
In conclusion, DUI is demanding full political accountability from the Municipality of Tetovo and the Government for what it describes as the failure to defend the decision related to the Albanian names of the city’s streets and squares.
