After the Criticism, Alban Skënderaj Speaks for the First Time About the Protests in Albania

Well-known Albanian singer Alban Skënderaj has shared a lengthy reaction on Instagram regarding the civic protest taking place in the country, describing it as one of the most inspiring moments of recent decades.

Through a series of posts published on the social network, the artist stressed that the protest has set a new standard for the generations to come and that, despite the debates surrounding it, it has achieved an important victory by awakening civic awareness.

“I believe this protest has already achieved a major victory; it has awakened a civic awareness that for many years seemed asleep,” Skënderaj wrote.

He praised the spirit, civic conduct and purity of the protest, while acknowledging that in every major social movement there may be individuals or groups who try to use it for their own interests.

Nevertheless, according to him, the true strength of the protest lies with ordinary and honest citizens.

In his post, the singer also addressed the criticism he has received in recent days for not reacting publicly enough.

He clarified that his support for transparency, accountability and citizens’ right to be heard has been consistently expressed through his public positions and his presence in the square.

Skënderaj said he does not measure love for his country by the number of posts on social media, emphasizing that he has chosen art and music as his way of communicating with the public.

“I have never been the person who shouts the loudest in the room. I chose music. I chose poetry. I chose songs,” he wrote.

The artist added that throughout his career he has tried to convey through his work values such as love, dignity, family, freedom, roots and hope, underlining that each person contributes to society according to their own nature and abilities.

His post has sparked numerous reactions on social media, where many followers have praised his message in support of civic awareness and active participation in public life.
