Donald Trump has announced that Stephen Miller will take over as White House chief of staff. Miller is currently deputy chief of staff in the Trump administration and one of the US president’s most trusted advisers.
In a post, Trump said Miller would begin his new role on Monday, November 9, 2026. He will replace Susie Wiles, who will move to Trump’s political operation.

The president thanked Wiles for her service as chief of staff and twice praised her excellent work. He also expressed his pleasure at Miller’s appointment.
The change comes just days after Republican losses in the midterm elections, in which Democrats regained control of the US Congress. Wiles was the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff. She is one of Trump’s closest associates and played an important role in his 2024 presidential campaign.
