Active fire hotspots in Kruja, forces intervene from air and ground

Fires continue to be active in the territory of the municipality of Kruja. The spread of flames is being aided by strong wind and difficult terrain, while civil emergency structures, fire services, and the Armed Forces remain on alert.

This afternoon, flames reactivated in the Abaze neighborhood, in the same area where a hotspot broke out two days ago that directly threatened the city of Kruja. Numerous firefighters, military forces, and local residents have been deployed on the ground to prevent the fire from advancing.

The fire in the village of Halil also remains active. Efforts to extinguish it are being carried out simultaneously from the air, through Air Force helicopters, and from the ground, where the rugged terrain is significantly hindering the work of operational forces.

Meanwhile, the Prefecture of Durrës reports that the hotspot in Krasta is nearing containment. Around 50 members of the Armed Forces and fire service personnel operated during the day divided into two groups, aiming to consolidate the operation’s results during the night, when the flames were temporarily brought under control.
